Body of auto-rickshaw driver found in N’ganj

The body of a 52-year-old man was recovered from a paddy field in Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj this afternoon, police said.
The deceased is Babul Mia, a battery-run auto-rickshaw driver of Gazipur’s Pubail area, said Md Mehedi Islam, assistant superintendent of Narayanganj District Police.
Locals found the body in Daudpur union around 2:00pm. On information, police used the deceased’s fingerprints to confirm his identity through the national database.
Babul left home yesterday afternoon with his auto-rickshaw but did not return, police said quoting family.
“The body bore injury marks on the neck,” the ASP said.
“We suspect he fell victim to a gang of robbers, as his auto-rickshaw was not found at the scene,” he added.
A case has been filed with Rupganj Police Station in this regard.
